find me blogging at ohaiyojapan
im all packed [hopefully!] and ready to go (:
will be there from may 9th till june 9th
i really cannot imagine what the trip will be like. i’ll tell you when i get back (:
it has been a very eventful 4 months of getting to know new friends and sups, doing bible studies, planning scenarios, surviving the camp, finding out more about each other, finding out more about myself and finding out more about God. our team started out with 1 member dropping out barely 2 weeks into it. and we had disgusting limitations of trip dates because of school timetables. worst of all, we were location-less for about 2 months plus as no one could take us in.
but in the midst of all that, God’s sovereignty was showed. a nice window of time was given for everyone to be part of the trip. we were very willingly accepted by WEC [it was God's grace that brought us to them!] and lovingly taken care of by YS - one of the singapore staff. we were exceedingly blessed during our fundraising efforts and we raised MORE than we asked for. and the tee shirts..all have been printed already!! God is so BIG lah (: im sure we are able to expect great things to happen during the trip esp since we are going over with so many people praying back in s’pore for us.
i spent snippets of the week stoning and freaking about the gravity of the month. i mean..its a mission trip!! maybe its cos after the exams it was straight-on-charge with trip prep. i felt really unprepared for the trip both mentally and spiritually. at the same time i was very tired. thank God for P who basically have to endure my whining over the last couple of nights and gave alot advice. i have my much needed “stoning” session today at a really noisy macs but at least i feel more ready to go and do His work. i pray that i will be faithful with what i have been entrusted and will do all the my best. and at the same time i hope this will be just the first of many more steps in the future. for the team, i pray for unity and for us to always be aligned to God’s will. and that we will never forget to pray!
and this song came to mind while i was brooding over stuff.
No eye has seen, and no ear has heard,
the goodness the Lord has prepared for those
Who wait on Him to seek His voice,
You are the Potter and I am the clay
Jesus take me in Your hand,
and make me all that You want me to be
Jesus help me understand Your purpose,
and what You can do in me
Fulfilling my destiny
i may be able to blog/update during the trip but no promises
so till the 9th of june (:
that we are friends first and foremost (:
and all those other things are secondary
remember the photoshoot from here?
here’s a little titbit from it
as someone says, we are blokus obsessed (:
we even match the colours of the tiles!
its 4 days to japan
3 days in realtime as its monday night and we’re flying on friday early morning
im oscillating between being worried/apprehensive and being excited
i really have no idea what to expect but God has been really good to us
and there is alot of comfort in that (:
i guess im not as fiercely brand-loyal as i always thought..
these shoes are just too pretty and happy-looking to walk away from
plus i had a birthday gift to spend AND i can use them in japan
thanks to E, B, C, XH and S for buying [sort of] them for me (:
so here is the photo as i have been told to produce. hehs.
i bought a new battery for my laptop from the NUS co-op
this is the packaging that it came in..
compare the size of the box and bubble wrap to the battery pack
i just wonder at the necessity of it
i know that it needs to be protected and insulated but to this extent?
geog students probably make [over]critical consumers huh.
but really, no wonder the earth is in such a bad state
*havent done this is a long while. but im going to recount today’s happenings
1. photoshoot
pretty long overdue and since agnes has graduated many moons ago, we finally got down to doing it today. i guess it was pretty hard to get us to pose [guy: move your face not your head!] and look natural but it was quite fun.we did the usual formal family portrait in a variety of poses that the photographer tortured charmed us into. my parents did the husband-and-wife shot while the 4 of us went to get ready for some fun during ours (: hope the shots turned out well!
2. good lunch
as some of us are travelling this month and missing some very important celebrations in the family. so we [being the 3 girls] decided to be really nice and treat the rest to a good meal. after searching out many places [with the help of E (:] and calling them up for prices we decided on cafe brio’s for their international buffet lunch. my parents appreciate good food but would rarely lavish on it cos well..money usually has better use. we ate and ate and ate. it was good food (: we were just about dragging our overfilled bellies to the car after that.
3. shopping with the sisters
we had grand plans to spend alot of money buy alot of things we need. we even came up with a shopping list, hastily scribbled nontheless. managed to get some stuff [on the said list or not] but the mall was just too crowded to dig through for the rest.
4. swimming!
whoa..i have exercised! the 3 of us went in the evening in the attempt to have a healthy lifestyle (: it was a good time although i think my old bones are going to ache tomorrow. the water was slightly gross [and warm from basking in the sunshine] since it was the end of the day. but its a good start - for unhealthy, lazy me at least.
ah..a busy day it was
year 2 is over
for better or for worse
and its a second round of “chiong-ing” for japan prep
p/s: just to reassure..no book was unduly harmed at all (:
1. dress in a kimono. for optimum comfort, it may be wiser to choose the summer version.
2. act kawaii. including the [number of] fingers and the fake dimple making.
3. combine both pointers. for the truely authentic experience.
*just to pre-empt the questions. i wasnt dressed too because i thought it was ridiculous we didnt manage to borrow enough sets.
** there isnt the intention to insult anyone, japanese or not, in this post. neither is the above post meant to be a true reflection of what japanese people are like. im just playing on some stereotypes (:
